Carl Zeiss and Arri have, in several years of cooperation, developed a total of 12 new high-performance lenses with focal lengths from 10 mm to 135 mm which cover the full super 35 frame: the ULTRA-PRIME lenses for the Arriflex camera. These lenses are designed to meet highest demands and conform with the latest findings. They take into consideration that most important scenes are played close-up.
This is where conventional optical concepts show definite weaknesses - quite different the new Carl Zeiss ULTRA-PRIME lens with floating elements. ULTRA-PRIME lenses by Carl Zeiss have uniform scale positions, focusing mechanisms with internal focusing with no play on reverse and newly developed aperture components with no play on reverse.
